Wolkje Solo Exhibition - Ninho ╳ Site-Specific Art at Kewco Space

Wolkje, who grew up in Taiwan, has been living in Portugal for an extended period after graduating. This April, Wolkje returned to Taiwan to host a solo exhibition for the first time. Wolkje's ceramic art is characterized by its vibrant and warm style, with each piece having a distinct and charming personality. There's a sweet-toothed hungry fish, a gentle and comforting wolf, and a horse that loves flowers... They all seem like friends you could talk to about anything. In the midst of a busy and noisy society, Wolkje hopes that her pieces can become a small source of companionship and solace in people's hearts, bringing a touch of warmth and beauty to the world.

Ninho

"Ninho" is Portuguese for "nest."

To me, a Ninho is like a place with the perfect temperature, ideal humidity, appropriate lighting, and the right level of sound. It's a place where we can shed our feathers, drop our disguises, and be our truest selves. For me, this is one of the most valuable things. A nest, for me, can be a place, a person, a group of people, a specific food, a movie, an emotion, or a way of expressing oneself. And this time, I want to show you my Ninho.

When I'm creating, I can't fake it—I always have so much to convey, so this nest might feel a bit full.

But... come and take a look!

The exhibition features various ceramic works and, for the first time, a 23-meter-long scroll painting. In keeping with Wolkje's storybook-like painting style, the space also invited her to freely paint on the glass throughout the exhibition. From the display windows to the indoor ceramic art displays, visitors feel like they've stepped into Wolkje's stories!

The curator Yun.gon.e.3 is one of the leaders of the Congkou space and is organizing an art exhibition under her own name for the first time. She is also a high school classmate of the artist Wolkje. "It’s the happiest thing to be able to help my good friend! After running this space for three years, I finally feel the value of accumulating these resources!"

Thanks to this opportunity, everyone gets a chance to see these works that have traveled all the way to Taipei and witness Wolkje’s live art creation!
